Olkaria Geothermal Power Station: Sheet Piling, March 2020

Scope of Services:

EA Piling continued its strong track record of sheet piling works through the installation of a retaining wall at the Olkaria Geothermal Power Plant in Kenya. The sheet pile wall has a running length of 10m and retains 6m of soils.

Project Description:

CSI Energy (Kenya) required a 10m long retaining wall for their Geothermal Power Plan in Naivasha, Kenya. EA Piling was able to swiftly mobilise staff, equipment, and the sheet piles to site from Nairobi to complete the works.

The sheet pile retaining wall was made of AZ20-800 sections from ArcelorMittal and were 12m long each. The sheet piles were installed to a depth of 12m using a PTC HFV17 vibro-hammer.

The entire 10m length of the sheet pile wall was completed to specification within a few days. EA Piling continues to prove itself to be the sheet piling contractor of choice in East Africa.
